Access, opening times and contacts

Remember to check your performance venue. The Paris Opera has two opera houses: the Palais Garnier and the Opéra Bastille.

In compliance with the Vigipirate plan, access to the Paris Opera theatres is subject to a proximity control and checking of personal belongings, in particular by means of a secure portal system.

The following objects/equipment are not allowed in the auditoriums or cloakrooms of our theatres:

  • Luggage and travel bags
  • Motorised or non-motorised personal transport equipment (except for PRM)
  • Bicycle batteries
  • Glass bottles
  • U-locks, chains
  • Weapons and ammunition of any category, small pocket knives, any blunt object or object that can be used as a weapon, tools such as cutters, screwdrivers, hammers, pliers and secateurs
  • Clubs, brass knuckles, incapacitating or tear-generating aerosols, inflammable or volatile substances, etc.

Evening performances usually begin at 7.30 pm and matinees at 2.30 pm, with the exception of certain particularly long works (see descriptions of operas for times). We recommend that you arrive at least 45 minutes before the performance begins. 

The performance always starts at the time indicated on the ticket and the website. Latecomers will have to wait until the intermission to be admitted into the auditorium. The doors into the theatre building will be closed 15 minutes after the start of the performance.

FOR INDIVIDUALS SPECTATORS

  • By telephone on 08 92 89 90 90 (€0.35 /minute + network provider surcharges where applicable) or on +33 (0)1 71 25 24 23 from outside France, from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.

  •  At the Palais Garnier box office (on the corner of rue Scribe and rue Auber - 75009 Paris) : from 10am to 6:30pm and 1 hour before performances.

  • At the Opéra Bastille box office (120 rue de Lyon - 75012 Paris): from Monday to Saturday (except public holidays) from 2 :30 pm (from 12 pm on booking opening days) to 6.30 pm and 1 hour before performances.
    Due to the time required to reach the auditorium, ticket sales at the box office will end 10 minutes before the start of the performance.
