After making his Paris Opera debut in the role of Francisco de Ávila in the repertoire debut of The Exterminating Angel by contemporary composer Thomas Adès in 2024, American countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo will this season play the role of Gandhi in Philip Glass’s Satyagraha.
For his lyric gala at the Palais Garnier, he reveals in perfect counterpoint another facet of the American composer interpreting some of his opera arias and vocal pieces.
Centuries apart, the music of George Frederic Handel allows him to display the full range of his vocal and expressive range, from bravura arias to songs of despair.
A connoisseur of Philip Glass’ music, Karen Kamensek conducts the Paris Opera Orchestra for this exceptional gala.
