Synopsis
Augusta Holmès was the first woman to compose an opera for the Palais Garnier, La Montagne noire. Admired by fellow musicians Saint-Saëns and Liszt, and by poets Mallarmé and de Vigny, Holmès was a major composer of her time, notably commissioned to write the monumental Ôde triomphale to celebrate the centenary of the French Revolution.
Emanuela Pascu and pianist Yoan Héreau take a musical look back at the life and genius of a composer turned muse.
