The AROP awards 2020 (season 18/19)
The AROP – The Association of Friends of the Paris National Opera aims to support emerging artists in training at the Paris Opera.
Since 1986, the AROP awards a young female and male dancer from the Paris Opera Ballet who performed important variations of the repertoire on stage. The Ballet Prize is backed by the generous support of Mrs Jeannine Auber, who wished to encourage the new generations of dancers at the Ballet School and also to pass on her passion for dance in form of a legacy that she left to the AROP with a ten-year commitment.
Since 1998, the AROP awards the Opera Prize to a female and a male singer from the Paris Opera Académie, based on their performances and concerts during the past season.
For the 2018/2019 season, the members decided to award the Ballet Prize to the « sujet » Roxane Stojanov, for her performances in La Dame aux Camélias (John Neumeier), and Simon Le Borgne for his performances in Faun (Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui).
The Opera Prize went to soprano Angelique Boudeville and tenor Danylo Matviienko, who are both in residence at the Académie since September 2017. They were distinguished for their performances at concerts of the Académie and their roles of Rosalinde and Dr Falke in « Die Fledermaus » by Johann Strauss.
