Born in Berlin, Rebecca Ringst studied scenography in the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. She has been working with Calixto Bieito since 2006 on international stages such as the Vienna Staatsoper, the Berlin Komische Oper, the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Munich Residenztheater, the English National Opera in London, the Nationale Opera in Amsterdam, the Oslo National Theater and Opera, the Chicago Goodman Theatre, the Zurich Opera, the Stuttgart Opera, the Flemish Opera, the Theatre Freiburg, the Nuremberg Staatstheater, the Teatro del Canal in Madrid, etc.
She also worked with Stefan Herheim at the Stuttgart Opera, Andrea Moses at the Berlin Deutsches Theater, and since 2015 with Barrie Kosky at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Komische Oper in Berlin, the Bayreuth Festival (The Master-Singers of Nuremberg), and the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
In 2010, she is nominated “European Scenograph of the Year” by the Opernwelt magazine for The Knight of the Rose’s production (with Stefan Herheim as a stage director). She also won the Spanish Prize Premio Max in 2014 for her production Forests (staged by Calixto Bieito) and was nominated twice at the International Opera Awards and the Hedda Award in Norway.
This season, she designs the sets for Carmina Burana in Hamburg and Khovanshchina in Salzburg.
