Nicolas Fayol Dancer

Biography

Nicolas Fayol discovered hip-hop dance in 2003 and taught himself breakdance techniques. In 2006, he joined the International School of Jazz Dance in Paris. In 2009, he won the Juste Debout competition in the "Experimental" category.

Since then, he has collaborated with several choreographers, directors, musicians, and filmmakers, including Christian Rizzo, Bruno Geslin, Alain Buffard, Sébastien Lefrancois, Guy Maddin, Lloyd Newson, Raphaelle Delaunay, Yoann Bourgeois, Montalvo-Hervieu, Daniel Erdmann, and Vincent Courtois.

He co-directed video portraits with Bruno Geslin for the project 200 CHAMBRES, conducting workshops in high schools, detention centers, maximum-security prisons, and psychiatric hospitals. He has also performed and collaborated on the pieces Un homme qui dort, Chroma, and Parallèle.

In 2016, he began working with Christian Rizzo, performing in the installation avant la nuit dernière, presented during Nuit Blanche 2016 in Paris. He was also a performer in the 2017 creation d’à côté. In 2018, he performed in Yoann Bourgeois' piece Scala. Most recently, in 2020, Christian Rizzo choreographed a solo for him titled En son lieu.

Alongside his work as a performer, in his garage and studio, he explores visual arts, photography, and video, while continuing to train and compete in hip-hop battles. In 2016, he co-founded Hinterland with Lilas Nagoya and Laura Fanouillet. In 2017, he created Bye-bye myself with Mehdi Baki at Main d’Œuvre (Saint-Ouen). In 2021, he premiered OHHO at the Théâtre de Nîmes, a continuation of his previous duet. In 2022, he will present TONES&BONES, a jazz repertoire for saxophonist Daniel Erdmann and a dancer.
