Marco Spotti made his debut at the Teatro Regio in his home city of Parma. Soon thereafter, he was invited to perform at some of the great opera venues and, in 2003, he made his debut at Milan’s La Scala (as Arcas in Iphigénie en Aulide with Riccardo Muti conducting). Since then, he has made regular appearances on the Milan stage (as Sparafucile in Rigoletto, the King in Aida, Loredano in I due Foscari, Timur in Turandot, Wurm in Luisa Miller, Colline in La Bohème, under the baton of James Conlon, Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, Valery Gergiev, Gianandrea Noseda, and Gustavo Dudamel). He has assumed the role of Procida (I Vespri Siciliani) in Palermo, sung Ramfis (Aida) in Rome, at the Verona Arena, the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, Tel Aviv and Milan’s La Scala, Alvise (La Gioconda) in Livorno, Verona, Catania and Athens, Banco (Macbeth) at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and in Las Palmas, Sparafucile at La Fenice in Venice, Bilbao, the Verdi Festival in Parma, the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Dresden Semperoper, Massimiliano (I Masnadieri) in Las Palmas and Bologna, Loredano at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Teatro Comunale in Piacenza, the Commendatore (Don Giovanni) at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Pimen (Boris Godunov) and Oroveso (Norma) in Palermo, Timur at the Chorégies d’Orange, the Grand Inquisitor (Don Carlo) at the Teatro Regio in Turin, Walther (Guillaume Tell) in Amsterdam and Brussels, Basilio (Il Barbiere di Seviglia) at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the King (Aida) at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, and Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra) at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.
He has made numerous concert appearances, performing Verdi’s Requiem, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Œdipus Rex (Tiresias) and Aida (the King) with the Orchestra of the Academia Santa Cecilia and Antonio Pappano. He made his New York Metropolitan Opera debut in Guillaume Tell in 2016. More recently, he sang the role of Henri VIII (Anna Bolena) at the Teatro Regio in Parma, Oroveso and Basilio at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, Ferrando (Il Trovatore) at the Liceu in Barcelona, King Roger with Antonio Pappano at the Academia Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Grand Inquisitor at the Palau de les Arts.
