Swedish-born Kristina Hammarström performs a vast repertoire of roles on the stages of the great international opera venues, including Charlotte (Werther), Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), Arsace (Sémiramis), Pénélope and Minerve (Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria), Diane (La Calisto), Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Marguerite (La Damnation de Faust), the great Mozartian roles (Cherubino in Nozze di Figaro—a role in which she made her Paris Opera debut—Cecilio in Lucio Silla, the title role of Ascanio in Alba, Idamante in Idomeneo, Farnace in Mitridate, ré di Ponto) and the operas of Handel (Cornelia and the title role in Giulio Cesare, Bradamante in Alcina, Irene in Tamerlano, Nerone and Ottone in Agrippina, the title role of Oreste, Teseo in Arianna in Creta, Storgé in Jephtha, Medoro in Orlando, Gandarte in Poro, Daniel in Belshazzar, and Cleofe in La Resurrezione). She was recently invited to appear at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva and the Opéra Royal in Versailles (Medea in Cavalli’s Il Giasone), the Handel Festival in Halle (Carilda in Arianna in Creta) and in Hanover (Storgé in Jephtha).
She has sung Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion in Paris, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Gdansk and Budapest with the Berlin-based Akademie für Alte Musik, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis in New York, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Örebro with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in Amsterdam with the Nederlandse Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Mozart’s Requiem with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, The Saint John Passion in Stockholm with the Swedish Baroque Orchestra, and Handel’s Messiah in Oslo (Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra), Gothenburg (Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra) and Stockholm (ReBaroque). She has recorded a CD of Vivaldi arias with Marcello Di Lisa, Orlando with René Jacobs, Handel’s Giulio Cesare and Alessandro Severo with George Petrou, Idomeneo, Mitridate, ré di Ponto and Lucio Silla with Adam Fischer, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Jan Willem de Vriend, Mozart’s Requiem with Manfred Honeck, Messiah with Gustaf Sjölvist. She has also recorded several DVDs (Alcina with Marc Minkowski, Orlando furioso with JeanChristophe Spinosi, and Belshazzar with René Jacobs).
