Katharina Schlipf Costume designer

Biography

Katharina Schlipf studied set and costume design with Martin Zehetgruber and Werner Pick at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design. She graduated with honors, awarded for her “Danton Project” on Danton's Death (Dantons Tod). Since then, Katharina Schlipf has been working as a freelance set and costume designer.

Her collaboration with stage directors and choreographers such as Lydia Steier, Demis Volpi, Nadja Loschky, Katarzyna Kozielska, Mario Galizzi, José Limón, Thomas Schadt took her in many theatre and opera houses, including Stuttgart Opera and Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, Theater Saarbrücken, Heidelberg Theatre and Orchestra, Schwetzingen Festival, Mainz National Theatre, Bielefeld Theatre, Theater Bremen, Basel Theatre, Konzert Theater Berne, Ballett am Rhein, Frankfurt Opera, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Kunsthuis Opera Vlaanderen in Antwerp, American Ballet Theatre New York and Salzburg Festival.

In addition to her work as set and costume designer, Katharina Schlipf has been working as a freelance teacher of set and costume design and installing museum exhibitions. She has also created several advertising campaigns for an agency in Stuttgart, including one for the brand Hugo Boss. In 2015, her hometown Rottweil awarded her the Rotary Art Prize.
