Born in Lithuania, Justina Gringytė studied at Lithuania’s Academy of Music and Theatre,the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and the National Opera Studio in London and Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania. She is a graduate of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
Her opera repertoire includes Thérèse (title-role) in Lithuania and Amneris (Aida) at Israel Opera, the Lithuania National Opera, and the Latvian National Opera, Carmen (title-role) at the English National Opera, Scottish Opera, Teatro Nacional in São Carlos, Lithuania National Opera Teatro Massimo Palermo, Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, Maddalena (Rigoletto) at Royal Opera House Covent Garden,Teatro Real Madrid, English National Opera and Moscow Bolshoi Theatre, Dalila (Samson et Dalila) at Vilnius Opera, Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. Her highlights on the concert platform include Verdi’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No.9, Berlioz's Les Nuits d'été, Ravel's Shéhérezade, Mahler’s Symphony No.2, No.3 and No.8, with orchestras such as Simón Bolívar Orchestra,Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, but also at the BBC Proms and at the Opening Ceremony for the London Olympic Games.
The 2024/25 season sees Justina Gringytė perform at the New Year Gala with the Zurich Tonhalle, sing the Wesendonck Lieder with Denmark Philharmonic Orchestra, Das Lied von der Erde with Strasburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and Berio’s Folk Songs with the RAI Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale. She is also releasing a new album, featuring songs by Bizet, with Malcolm Martineau. Justina Gringytė was awarded Young Singer of the Year at the 2015 International Opera Awards and nominated for the Golden Stage Cross Award for her role debut as Amneris.
