Biography

Soprano Isobel Anthony makes her debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago as the narrator in Jason and the Argonauts, and at Santa Fe Opera in such diverse roles as the wife 1/Jenny in the world premiere of Gregory Spears' The Righteous, Sophie in the SFO production of Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier.

Audiences see her again as Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni and Iris in Handel's Semele at Wolf Trap Opera. She takes part in two world premieres, with composers Max Vinetz and Hannah Gruendemann in a solo recital at the Bienen School of Music.

She is soloist in the world premiere of David Lang's In Nature with The Crossing, and performs the role of Diana in the Midwest premiere of Jake Heggie's If I Were You. She performs as soprano soloist in Luciano Berio's Sinfonia at Bienen and as vocalist in Schönberg's Pierrot Lunaire at Yale University.

Isobel Anthony holds an M.A. in voice and opera from Northwestern University, and a B.A. in linguistics with honors from Yale University, where she is Artistic Director of the Opera Theatre of Yale College. She is also a member of the Yale Schola Cantorum with David Hill, with whom she tours internationally twice and records three albums on the Hyperion label.

Isobel Anthony joins the Académie de l'Opéra national de Paris in September 2024.
