After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music and the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich in 2019, Freddie De Tommaso appeared as Cassio (Otello) at the Royal Opera House in London and as Ismaele (Nabucco) at the National Opera in Amsterdam. He then opened the 2020-2021 season at the Vienna State Opera as Pinkerton (Madame Butterfly). In recent seasons he has sung Rodolfo (La Bohème) and Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca) at London's Royal Opera House, Rodolfo at La Scala in Milan, Berlin and Vienna, Mario Cavaradossi at Santa Fe Opera and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Don José (Carmen), Alfredo (La Traviata) and Mario Cavaradossi at the Arena in Verona, Alfredo at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin and the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Maurizio (Adriana Lecouvreur) at La Scala in Milan, Don José, Pinkerton (Madame Butterfly), Macduff (Macbeth), Ismaele and the Italian Tenor (Le Chevalier à la rose) at the Vienna State Opera, Riccardo (Un bal masqué) at the Verbier Festival, Riccardo and Maurizio at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Pollione (Norma) at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Adorno (Simon Boccanegra) at the Vienna State Opera.
In the 2024-2025 season, his roles include Mario Cavaradossi at the Staatsoper unter den Linden in Berlin, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Vienna State Opera; Pollione at La Scala in Milan, the Theater an der Wien in Vienna, and the Vienna State Opera; Rodolfo in Hamburg; and Don José at the Royal Opera in London and the Vienna State Opera. Freddie De Tommaso also appears regularly in concert. An exclusive artist for Decca Classics since 2007, he is the label's first tenor and has recorded the albums "Passione" and "Il Tenore".
