Ewa Płonka is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where she received an Artist Diploma in Lyric Studies. She is also a piano graduate of the Poznan Academy of Music. She holds a Second Master's Degree with Honors from Oklahoma City University and a Master's Degree in Music Performance with Honors from the University of Utah. As a concert pianist, she has won numerous awards in international competitions. As a lyricist, she has appeared at the Hamburg State Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Washington National Opera. She opened the Dallas Opera season in the title role of Tosca, made her debut at the Zurich Opera as Lady Macbeth and at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw in the title role of Aida.
Further appearances include Abigail (Nabucco) at the Arena di Verona and Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Aida at the Narodni Divadlo in Prague, Lady Macbeth at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Venus (Tannhäuser) at the Royal Opera House in London, the Foreign Princess (Rusalka) at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the title role in Turandot at the Teatro Real in Madrid and the opera house St. Margarethen im Steinbruch. In concert, Ewa Płonka has sung Rachmaninov's Les Cloches with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Delius' A Mass for Life with the Grant Park Festival in Chicago, Mendelssohn's Elias conducted by Sebastian Lang-Lessing.
With Dallas Opera, she has performed excerpts from Le Trouvère and Don Quixote and appeared in a series of Opera Highlights concerts. In the 2024-2025 season, she will sing Turandot at the Royal Opera House, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Savonlinna Festival and Arena Opera in Korea, Abigaille at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Lady Macbeth at the Washington National Opera and Aida at the Krakow Opera.
