Born in Germany in 1986, Dustin Klein began his dance training at his mother's dance school in Landsberg am Lech before graduating from London's Royal Ballet School. After beginning his professional career in Düsseldorf at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, he joined the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich, where he was a soloist until 2021 and performed in numerous productions. Since 2012, he has choreographed his own works for international dance and opera companies, including the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich, the Stanislavsky & Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre in Moscow, the Hamburg State Opera, the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, the Oldenburg State Ballet, the Münster Theatre, the Dallas Opera, the Glyndebourne Festival, the Opéra national du Rhin, the Opéra de Dijon, the Salzburg Festival and the Origen Festival in Switzerland.
He continued to develop his own choreographic style and was awarded the Bundesjugendballett Hamburg Production Prize at the 33rd International Choreography Competition in Hanover, the Audience Prize at the 34th Bayerische Theatertage in Regensburg, as well as the Ellinor Holland Art Prize and the Kulturförderpreis of his hometown of Landsberg am Lech. His work is collaborative and uses a variety of media. He has collaborated with numerous composers, graphic artists, film and computer animation directors, set and costume designers.
