Biography

Born in Dnipro, Ukraine, Daria Akulova joined the M. Gorky Drama Theater's singing and acting studio for young people at the age of 5. She graduated from a music school in the singing and piano classes and was a prizewinner in the All-Ukrainian competition. From 2010 to 2012, Daria Akulova sang at the Dnipro Opera and Ballet Theater in concerts dedicated to young singers. In 2016, she won the Grand Prix of the All-Ukrainian B. Gmyrya competition in Dnepr.

Between 2017 and 2023, she studied classical singing at the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music in Kiev, where she obtained a Bachelor's degree and then a Master's degree. Audiences have seen her in roles such as Marfa in Rimsky-Korsakov's The Czar's Bride, Amour in Gluck's Orfeo and Euridice, Annina in Verdi's La Traviata and Brigitta in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta.

In 2022, Daria Akulova was awarded the Presidential Scholarship for Young Artists in Music and studied at the Bern University of the Arts with Tanja Ariane Baumgartner. That same year, she won first prize at the International Music Competition in Lugano, Switzerland.

Her concert appearances include the Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn TOBS, conducted by Yannis Pouspourikas, the VII International Festival & Summer Academy - Voice & Orchestra in Brescia, Italy, the Sofia National Opera and Ballet, the Sher Oston Jazz Orchestra and the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra. In 2023, she enters the Swiss opera studio MA Bern University of the arts in Tanja Ariane Baumgartner's class. She is awarded a Lyra Foundation scholarship.

Daria Akulova joins the Académie de l'Opéra de Paris in September 2024.
