Carole Bouquet was born on 18 August 1957 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Her career spans several decades, during which she has grown to become one of the most emblematic actresses of French cinema. She made her cinema debut in 1977 with Luis Buñuel’s That Obscure Object of Desire, nominated at the 1978 Oscars in the Best Movie in a Foreign Language category.
In 1981, Carole Bouquet became the face of Chanel, as an embodiment of the French woman. Her collaboration with Chanel lasted several decades, strengthening her position as an icon of fashion and glamour. This year marked a turning point in her career, as she obtained the role of Melina Havelock in the James Bond’s movie For Your Eyes Only, which put her on the international map. She thus became one of the few French actresses to have appeared in the James Bond franchise.
Carole Bouquet also starred in Werner Schroeter’s movie Day of the Idiots, which was nominated at the 1982 Cannes Film Festival. In 1990, she was awarded the César Award for Best Actress for her role of Florence Barthélémy in Too Beautiful for You.
