Calesta “Callie” Day is a native of Atlanta. An educator, artist, singer and voice teacher, she is multi-talented with a wide range of vocal abilities. Her inspired style, production and spiritual insight have made her one of today's most dynamic and compelling talents. Her vocal interpretation of Moses Hogan's Hear My Prayer was a resounding success on the Internet.
She is also a soloist and performer with the American Spiritual Ensemble. Her Hear My Prayer album was released in 2017. It also placed at #9 and #24 on Billboard magazine's gospel and classical music charts. Callie took part in the creation of Play, the first piece created for the Paris Opera Ballet by Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman in 2017.
In 2019, Callie competed on season 14 of America's Got Talent. She also earned an arts degree from Sinclair Community College in vocal performance, a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University in vocal performance, and a master's degree in education with an emphasis in music from the University of Dayton. Callie is also continuing her university training in vocal performance.
Her doctoral project is entitled “Exploring the role of African-American opera singers in the establishment of the spiritual as a musical art form from 1900 to 1920”. Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Calesta has been giving private singing lessons online. She has also released a music video entitled In Trouble written by composers and writers Monica Hodnett and Theresa Metzger.
