Bogdan Volkov performs on the most important international opera stages. He studied singing at the Glier Music Institute in Kiev. In 2013 he graduated from the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music. He then participated in the Young Artists Program of the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, where he later joined the company. In 2022 and 2023 he was a member of the ensemble at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, where he made his debut in 2019 as Don Antonio (Prokofiev's Les Fiançailles au couvent) under the baton of Daniel Barenboim. Bogdan Volkov won the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Paris Opera Competition in 2015 and the Second Prize at the Operalia Plácido Domingo Competition in 2016.
In recent seasons, his roles have included Prince Guidon (The Tale of Tsar Saltan) at La Monnaie in Brussels, Lensky (Eugene Onegin) in Vienna, Ferrando (Così fan tutte) and Prince Myshkin (Weinberg's Idiot) at the Salzburg Festival.
In the 2024-2025 season he will sing Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) and Ferrando at the Vienna State Opera, Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) and Alfredo (La Traviata) at the Berlin State Opera, Lensky at the Teatro Real Madrid and the Hamburg State Opera, and Prince Guidon at the Teatro Real Madrid. Concert appearances include the Shostakovich Festival at the Leipzig Gewandhaus.
