Bertrand Killy worked as a lighting designer with Pierre Barrat -including work like The Great Mystery of Passion, the Magic Flute, LʼOrestie, Bluebeard’s Castle and The Radetzky March- and François Tanguy - Ricercar, La Bataille de Tagliamento, Choral, Chant du Bouc and Fragments forains. Since 2000, he has worked in close collaboration with Olivier Py, for both theatre and opera. Theatre works include L’Apocalypse joyeuse, Le Soulier de satin, Adagio, Orlando ou l’Impatience or King Lear. Operas include The Tales of Hoffmann, Faust’s Damnation, Tristan und Isolde, Lulu and Manon in Geneva, Pelléas et Mélisande in Moscow and Amsterdam, Roméo et Juliette in Amsterdam and Copenhagen, Les Huguenots, Lohengrin, La Gioconda and Henry VIII in Brussels, Hamlet and The Flying Dutchman at Theater an der Wien, Carmen and La Juive in Lyon, La forza del destino in Cologne, Il trovatore in Munich, Dialogues with the carmelites and et Boris Godunov at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Ariane et Barbe-Bleue and Pénélope in Strasburg, La Traviata in Malmö, Wozzeck in Athens, The Queen of Spade in Nice, Orphée aux Enfers in Lausanne. During the 2024/25 season, he is designing the lighting for Peer Gynt at the Théâtre du Châtelet, The Nightingale at the Cologne Opera and Norma at La Scala in Milan.
