Member of the Paris Opera Lyric Troupe
An alumni of the Accademia del Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the International Opera Studio (IOS) in Zurich, Amin Ahangaran began his artistic training began in 2016 in his hometown, Teheran, and continued in Austria where he made his opera debut in the role of Sarastro (The Magic Flute). He appeared in several productions and concerts as a soloist in the region of Graz.
A winner of the American Institute of Music Studies (AIMS) and Academia Belcanto scholarships in 2018, he took part in numerous masterclasses.
During the summer 2021, he returned to Austria to receive a new AIMS scholarship. This past seasons, he sang, among other roles, A Court Usher (Rigoletto), the Inspector (Siberia), A lackey (Ariadne auf Naxos), as well as Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy for the Teatro del Maggio Musicale. He took part in Augusto Borgioli’s Messa funebre a tre voci in Prato, as well as in many concerts held in historic sites in Tuscany.
Appearances at the Zurich Opera includes his performance for the opening gala festival and the roles of the Commissioner (La Traviata), Zaretsky and Captain Rotniy (Eugene Onegin), the bass in Jakob Lenz. He was also an understudy for Sarastro, Colline (La Bohème), Fafner (Siegfried) and Timur (Turandot). In 2022, he won the third prize, the public award and the Rapallo Opera Festival during the Portofino CLIP competition.
He also won the third prize at the Riccardo Zandonai de Riva del Garda competition and was a finalist at the Voci Verdiane competition in Busetto.
These last seasons, Amin Ahangaran performed the roles of Rabonnier (La Rondine), The Doctor (Macbeth), A Mandarin (Turandot) and Dumas (Andrea Chénier) at the Zurich Opera, and the role of Don Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) in Schaffhausen (Switzerland).
Amin Ahangaran is a member of the Paris Opera Lyric Troupe for the 2024/25 season.
