Biography

Alexandra Marcellier began learning music on the violin at the age of 6, then went on to study singing at the age of 19. She trained at the Bordeaux Conservatoire with soprano Maryse Castets.

In 2015, she won the Jeune Espoir prize at the Amis du Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux international competition. She then worked with soprano Silvana Bazzoni-Bartoli for three consecutive years at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. She stood out at the Osaka competition in 2017, which led to her singing two years later at New York's Carnegie Hall in a gala concert of former laureates.

In 2018, she makes her debut at the Opéra de Bordeaux with Rossini's Stabat Mater. She then returned to her hometown of Perpignan to sing Gabriel (Haydn's La Création ) at the Musica Sacra Festival, and continued to perform in the region with the female title role in Orphée et Eurydice with the Arian Médoc vocal ensemble. In 2019, she sings Belinda (Didon et Énée) at the Festival L'Eure Poétique et Musicale. In 2021, she is the First Nymph in the recording of Rusalka at the Opéra de Limoges, and plays the title role in Madame Butterfly for her debut at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne, then at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo.

In 2022, she sang La Voix humaine at the Milan Auditorium and took part in a tour performing the music composed by Joe Hisashi. In 2022-2023, Alexandra Marcellier singsVitellia (La Clémence de Titus) on tour with the Orchestre des Musiciens du Prince alongside Cecilia Bartoli, Micaëla (Carmen) at the Opéra de Marseille and the Chorégies d'Orange, Alice Ford (Falstaff) at the Opéra de Nice, Blanche de La Force (Dialogues des carmélites) at the Opéra de Liège.

She also performed in Frankfurt, singing the title role in Madame Butterfly. She was named Revelation of the Year 2023 at the Victoires de la Musique awards. Recent projects include Vitellia at the Salzburg Festival, the title role in Madame Butterfly at the Opéra de Marseille and Nedda (Pagliacci) at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne.
