A graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts, the Merola Opera Program, and the young artist programs of Wolf Trap Opera and Opera Philadelphia, Australian tenor Alasdair Kent has won numerous awards, including the Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Foundation Belcanto Prize and the Gerda Lissner International Foundation Competition. His repertoire includes the works of Rossini and Mozart, the romantic music of Bellini, Donizetti and Bizet, and the baroque and early classical music of Rameau and Gluck. Recent engagements have taken him to the Vienna State Opera, Madrid's Teatro Real, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Opernhaus in Zurich, the Rossini Festival and the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. Highlights of recent seasons include Count Almaviva (The Barber of Seville) at the Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera Munich and Dallas Opera, Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola) at the Bavarian State Opera Munich, Lindoro (L'Italienne à Alger) at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Ferrando (Così fan tutte) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Belmonte (L'Enlèvement au sérail) at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Narciso (Le Turc en Italie) at the Opernhaus in Zurich, the title role in Orlando Paladino at the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and Achille (Iphigénie en Aulide) at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence.
During the 2024-2025 season, he performs as Marzio (Mithridate, King of Pontus) at La Scala in Milan and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Count Almaviva at Opéra de Montréal, Norfolk (Elisabetta, regina d'Inghilterra) at Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Pylades (Iphigénie en Tauride) at Maestranza in Seville, Frederic (The Pirates of Penzance) at West Australian Opera, Idreno (Semiramide) at Opéra de Rouen, Narciso at Opéra national de Lyon, and Toante (Ifigenia in Tauride by Traetta) at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music.
Debut at the Opéra national de Paris.
