Synopsis
On the programme, three pieces inspired by sonnets by Petrarch in which Franz Liszt transcribed in his own way the eternal quest for love and the impossible search for inner peace. For the second half, Benjamin Britten’s Illuminations, a setting of poems by Rimbaud and a major song cycle in which the composer does justice to the brilliance of Rimbaud’s language.
