  • Carmen in Abidjan

In partnership with the Paris Opera, the French Institute of the Côte d’Ivoire is organising a screening of Carmen at 7pm on April 26, 2016 as part of the “Night at the Opera” festival. Côte d’Ivoire audiences will be able to rediscover Bizet’s masterpiece in a production by Calixto Bieito and, beforehand, enjoy a recital of opera arias by young singers. The director of the Paris Opera, Stéphane Lissner will present the evening during a short introductory video.

  • The launch of Second annual Berlioz Circle

After a first season dedicated to La Damnation de Faust, members of the Berlioz Circle this year will be given the opportunity to discover the mysteries of Saint-Saëns’ Samson et Dalila and Berlioz’ Béatrice et Bénédict. As generous art-loving philanthropists, our members have already had the privilege of meeting Stéphane Lissner, Director of the Paris Opera, and the young Italian stage director Damiano Michieletto.

From visits behind the scenes and tours of the Opéra Bastille’s studios, to concerts, private rehearsals and encounters with the artists themselves, the remainder of the programme will not fail to surprise.

Join the Berlioz Circle and embark on a journey into the heart of creation!

  • The Friends of the Opera meet with Étoile dancer Laura Hecquet

Named an Étoile at the Paris Opera on March 23, 2015, the former AROP prizewinner was kind enough to share her passion for dance with the audience and evoked the key moments of her career.

  • Philippe Jordan conducts Schönberg’s Gurre-Lieder at the Philharmonie de Paris

On April 19, 2016 at 8:30 pm, the Paris Opera Orchestra and Chorus made a guest appearance at the Philharmonie de Paris to perform the Austrian master’s magnificent early work for orchestra and chorus under the baton of their Musical Director Philippe Jordan. Foreshadowing the atonal revolution of 1912, Gurre-Lieder still belongs to the post-romantic tradition and demonstrates its orchestral power with an intense lyricism.

Yes, the project for sustainable development “Parisculteurs” has chosen 47 sites, including the Opéra Bastille, with the intention of replanting sites around the city to promote the development of urban agriculture. A total of 5.5 hectares have been allocated to create green spaces and/or produce foodstuffs for localised distribution networks.
