JOIN US FOR THE WORLD OPERA DAY: OCTOBER 25
The World Opera Day was born in 2019 as the result of an international campaign shared by social networks and local events to show how much the opera art contributes to the citizens’ well-being.
In the current context of limited public subsidies and mounting populism, this art must explore new ways to reveal the major role it has to play in our societies. A global day accessible to all was launched to showcase, celebrate and raise awareness about this art form.
The date 25 October is not a random choice: the World Opera Day is celebrated on the birthday of Georges Bizet and Johann Strauss II, two composers of possibly the world’s most famous operas and operettas.
