Paris Opera Ballet 2024 Promotional Competition: Dates and evolution of the terms and conditions

The Paris Opera Ballet Promotional Competition, whose conditions and organization are defined in the Paris Opera Collective Agreement (Article 9 of Title IV of the "Artistic Staff" Annex) will be held on Saturday 16 November 2024 on the stage of the Palais Garnier.
The openings that may be filled are the following:
- 6 positions for female Coryphées
- 5 positions for male Coryphées
The male Quadrilles will open the competition, followed the same day by the female Quadrilles.
Each candidate is required to perform in front of the Jury an imposed variation and a variation of their choice, which can be chosen in the Paris Opera’s ballet repertoire.
Internal promotion for Sujets to Premières Danseuses and Premiers Danseurs and for Coryphées to Sujets will be defined by the Management, in close collaboration with the dancers’s representatives, by 15 December 2024.
The terms and conditions of the competition for Quadrilles to Coryphées remain unchanged.
These transitory and experimental decisions, which follow discussions with the dancers, the management and trade unions, are part of a desire to conduct a mutual reflection aiming to define, before 1 June 2025, a permanent promotion process which will ensure equity and diversity of career paths within the Paris Opera Ballet.
The Palais Garnier will be exceptionally closed to visitors on 16 November 2024.
The Paris Opera Ballet
The Company is made up of 154 dancers, most of them graduates of the Paris Opera Ballet School.
