David Leigh is a recent graduate of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program (New York). Past projects include his role debut as King Marke (Tristan und Isolde) at Opera Santa Fe, and as the Commendatore (Don Giovanni) at Zurich Opernhaus, the title role in Abrahamsen’s The Snow Queen with Opéra national du Rhin, Sarastro (The Magic Flute) with Opéra national de Lorraine, a role he later revived with the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto.
In concert, he sang Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and Mozart’s Requiem with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. He made a house and role debut with Seattle Opera as Prince Gremin (Eugene Onegin), at San Francisco Opera as Zuniga (Carmen), at Canadian Opera Company as Turbo (Wainwright’s Hadrien) and at Kentucky Opera as Sparafucile (Rigoletto).
Last season he made his house debut at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich as Colline (La Bohème) and role debut as Fafner (Siegfried) at Zurich Opernhaus. On the concert stage, he made his debut with Jacaranda Music in Los Angeles for the world premiere of Knell and Fleischman’s Arkhipov.
Engagements for the 2023/24 and upcoming seasons include the role of Hagen (Götterdämmerung) at Zurich Opernhaus, the Commendatore at Canadian Opera Company and Sarastro (The Magic Flute) at the Ravinia Festival. Concert appearances will include Verdi’s Messa di Requiem.
