Brindley Sherratt Singer

Biography

Born in the Lancashire, Brindley Sherratt first studied trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music. 

His repertoire includes the roles of Sarastro (The Magic Flute) at the Staatsopers in Vienna and Hamburg, the Dutch National Opera, the Royal Opera House in London, the English National Opera and the Glyndebourne Festival, Claggart (Billy Budd) at the Aldeburgh and Glyndebourne Festivals, the BBC Proms, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Royal Opera House and the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, Arkel (Pelléas et Mélisande) at the Frankfurt Opera, the Zurich Opera House and the Glyndebourne Festival, Rocco (Fidelio) and Ochs (Der Rosenkavalier) at the Glyndebourne Festival, Bottom (A Midsummer Night's Dream) at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the Doctor (Wozzeck) at the Chicago Lyric Opera, Pimen (Boris Godunov) at the English National Opera and Zurich Opera House and Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra) at the English National Opera. 

He also sang Fafner in Wagner's Cycle, Ramfis (Aida), the Commendatore (Don Giovanni) and Timur (Turandot) at the Royal Opera House, Marke (Tristan und Isolde) at the Glyndebourne Festival, Geronte di Ravoir (Manon Lescaut) at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Judge Turpin (Sweeney Todd) at the Zurich Opera House, Pimen at the Opéra de Nice, Balducci (Benvenuto Cellini) and Hobson (Peter Grimes) in Salzburg, Rocco in Seville, Pogner at the Welsh National Opera, Fasolt (Das Rheingold) and Filippo (Don Carlos) at the Opera North. During season 2021/22, he sang Sparafucile (Rigoletto) at the Royal Opera House, Hunding (Die Walküre) at the English National Opera and Swallow (Peter Grimes) at the Staatsoper in Munich. Concert performances include Prince Gremine (Eugene Onegin) with the Dallas Symphonic Orchestra and his role debut as Gurnemanz (Parsifal) in performances with the Opera North Orchestra. 

He is a guest teacher at the Royal Academy and at the Royal College of Music.
