Synopsis
This is the tale of a king who adores his wardrobe. It is his only preoccupation… One day, two crooks arrive in his kingdom and decide to profit from his incommensurable taste for beautiful clothes. As a result, they pass themselves off as skilled weavers capable of creating the most magnificent of fabrics. Silky and ultra-light, these textiles have the peculiar property of being invisible to anyone who happens to be… stupid. Certain of his own intelligence, the king pays the bogus craftsmen handsomely, at which point they begin to weave their invisible fabric! What could be more fascinating for a choreographer than to invent a dance depicting crooks weaving a cloth made from nothing, to imagine the king donning nothing else but air, and to express his doubts through dance when he is confronted with the deception! Adapted from the Anderson tale, this performance, by the Compagnie Contrepoint offers a wonderful parable on a world based solely on appearances.
