French artist Xavier Veilhan (b. 1963, lives and works in Paris) has since the mid-1980s created a vast body of work defined by his interest in both the vocabulary of modernity and classical statuary, to which he gives his own contemporary reinterpretation.
His work has been presented in numerous exhibitions worldwide, notably in 2009 in the Château of Versailles (Veilhan:Versailles). From 2012 to 2014 he developed the exhibition series Architectones underlining the permanent dialogue between art and architecture in 7 modernist buildings across the globe. This exploration of architecture continued in 2015 with the film Vent Moderne for the festival Cinéma en plein air (La Villette, Paris). His latest performance, SYSTEMA OCCAM (2013), for a musical composition by Eliane Radigue, has been presented in Marseille, New York and recently in Paris. Xavier Veilhan is represented by Andréhn-Schiptjenko, Galerie Perrotin, Galeria Nara Roesler and 313 Art Project.
