Film director

Born in France in 1974, Jean-Gabriel Périot has made several experimental short films situated on the frontier between documentary and fiction. He has developed his own editing style that questions violence and history with cinema archives as his starting point.
His films, of which Dies Irae, Eût-elle été criminelle…, Nijuman no borei (200 000 ghosts) or The Devil have been awarded prizes in numerous festivals throughout the world.
His first full-length film, Une jeunesse allemande, opened the Panorama section of the 2015 Berlinale before being released in Germany, Switzerland and France and winning several prizes.
Lumières d’été, his first full-length fictional film, shown for the opening of the San Sebastian Festival, was released in France in the summer of 2017.
