Paris Opera Ballet
José Martinez, Director of Dance
José Martinez has been named Dance Director of the Paris Opera by General Director Alexander Neef, and took up the position in December 2022.
The Company
The Company is made up of 154 dancers, most of them graduates of the Paris Opera Ballet School. The average age - around 25 - makes it one of today's youngest companies.
The Étoiles
Learn more about the Étoiles dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet, appointed at the end of a performance by the General Director on the recommendation of the Director of Dance.
The Junior Ballet
The Junior Ballet is made up of 18 dancers aged between 17 and 23, recruited by competition. A further 6 dancers will join from September 2025.
The Junior Ballet is open to young dancers from all backgrounds and to students of the Paris Opera Ballet School wishing to complete their initial training.
